While the video is a bit soft (see below) and the subtitles are burned into the print (AKA: Analog/Non-removable) it is not too distracting that you cannot follow it.

There are two versions of this movie currently available, the uncut version and a remastered (cut) version. I'm not sure exactly why this was brought about, but be aware if you buy this release now it may be the cut (remastered) version. For further information on the cuts, see the excellent review of it at: HKFilm.net.

Meltdown
Columbia Tristar
  • Format: DVD
  • Length: 100 minutes
  • Rated: CAT IIb
  • Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1
  • Audio Options: Dolby Digital 5.1
  • Language: English
  • Subtitles: None
  • Additional Features:

An anamorphic version of High Risk, but is it any good? With the other great releases by Columbia-Tristar recently including the Once Upon a Time in China series available in the original language (Cantonese) with English subtitles I would expect a very good release. Unfortunatly it is a disappointment as it contains only a redone English dub with more Rap music like Jackie Chan's Supercop. When will the carnage of our beloved Hong Kong movies stop?

With that in mind, it does have excellent video, and if you have not seen the movie already and would like to check it out i'm sure this is a great way to go. The current version available from Universe Laser also has some issues (see above).
